Research profile
Scientific interests of the Bioinorganic and Coordination Chemistry Research Group focus on the synthesis and structural research of transition metal complexes with potential application as anti-cancer drugs or precursors for the deposition of metallic and hybrid layers.
The main interest of professor Iwona Łakomska’s research group is the design of platinum or ruthenium coordination compounds as new anti-cancer prodrugs.
Their chemical studies focus on synthesis and structural characterization (1H, 13C, 15N, 195Pt NMR; IR, UV-Vis), while in biological studies, they determinate essential parameters in a solution such as i) a hydrolysis rate; ii) lipophilicity (logP parameter), iii) in vitro and in vivo activity; iv) and interactions with biomolecules (glutathione, DNA; albumin).
